Heady Topper Summer News

We have been running out of Heady Topper here at our retail shop consistently for the past 6 weeks.  This tends to happen on either Sunday or late Saturday afternoon- depending on how busy the weekend traffic is.  If you are planning a visit to the brewery to purchase Heady Topper, please keep in mind that we ‘can’ each Monday and Thursday.  These are great days to visit as you are guaranteed as much fresh beer as you want.  If visiting on a weekend, Fridays and early Saturday are generally great (we open at 11am).  At this point, the only retailers in the state of Vermont who carry Heady Topper are in our designated distribution territory- Burlington, Montpelier, Mad River Valley and Stowe.  Our delivery truck goes to Burlington/Winooski/Richmond on Wednesdays, and Montpelier/Mad River Valley/Stowe on Fridays.  More information on each retailer can be found on our website.

Unfortunately, we can no longer let retailers outside of our distribution area pick up Heady Topper for resale.  We now have multiple retailers in each town that are interested in carrying Heady Topper, but we are unable to fill every account interested.  By law, you cannot ‘pick and choose’ your accounts within the same area.  So, we are unable to sell to a select group of retailers until we have enough to get it to everyone.  AND WE ARE WORKING ON IT.

Plans are under way to double our Heady Topper production- hopefully this will happen by fall.

At that time, we should be able to get Heady Topper everywhere in the state of Vermont.  Craft Beer Guild, who distributes our Celia Saison, will distribute Heady Topper outside of Alchemy Distributing’s delivery area (Burlington, Montpelier, Stowe, Mad River Valley).  They have been great to work with and we are sure they will do a nice job spreading the Heady around.

We are excited to increase our production.  This summer has been very challenging in terms of meeting demand and keeping retailers/consumers content.  I have heard rumors that we have cut back on production-  this simply is not true.  We are amazed and a bit overwhelmed by the growing popularity and local consumption of Heady Topper.   The good news is that we are able to do what we always intended- keep Heady Topper close to home and as fresh as possible.

Once fall rolls around and we have increased our capacity, we believe we will have enough Heady Topper to send to the Boston area on a regular basis.   We will only know how much this will be once we see how much Heady Topper Vermonters can possibly consume…  we might be in for a big surprise.

Brewer’s Fest is going to be a blast this year.  John brewed some great collaboration beers with Todd Mott of Portsmouth Brewing (Tarnation- a hoppy milk stout), Dieu du Ciel (American IPA) and Shaun at Hill Farmstead (hoppy, low abv ale).   In addition to that, there will be plenty of Heady and Celia Saison for those who are gluten free (you don’t have to be the designated driver this year).   Look forward to seeing you there!

THANK YOU for the support!  I’m ready…

-Jen

HT is simply the best beer out there. I have been able to get my hands on some and I live in Maryland. I know you like it served fresh but think of us down here in MD if you can expand. We love it!

Great news! I look forward to the day I can Just grab a 4-pack of Heady off my local shelf (near Boston), and not have to be rationed to a single can. :)
    Cheers,

I’ve managed to get ahold of Heady Topper in Minnesota… probably a long way off until it is in my corner liquor store, though. Easily the best beer I’ve ever tasted, though, so the hoops I have to jump through to get it are worth it.

Glad to hear you are pumping it out as fast as possible. I make the drive from Portsmouth, NH every three weeks or so to get my fix/supply. Luckily you have never been out when I showed up. Maybe you could look into distribution in NH via Craft Beer Guild NH? We are your sister state (and much better than Taxachusettes). Thanks for the Heady love!

I’ve been craving more HT since my trip to Vermont back in January. If there is ANY way that you could get it down to Connecticut in the future, it would be greatly appreciated. I can put you in contact with some great local places that would love to sell it.

Really? I’d be amazed if it wasn’t wildly popular. It’s one of the finest beers there is.

Good Lord! I haven’t gotten to try HT, yet, but a San Diego friend who recently visited NYC got to sample some and has pleaded with me to drive to VT, get some and ship it to CA! I’m planning my roadtrip and figuring how many cans I can cram into my motorcycle sidebags. Hoping there’s a retailer somewhere close to Route 100!

This is exciting news! Not to pile on, but it’s been a full 5 months since I’ve had a Heady and I’m fiending down here in Beantown! Can’t wait to start seeing a regular supply–or at least an *occassional* one–down here! Cheers to your success and all the expansion effort!

Unfortunately I have had this beer and it has set an unattainable mark for other american doubles. In saying that, I still love the other doubles, but nothing comes close to Heady.

Had my first HT last week in Burlington. Wow! Worth every ounce of “hype”! I live in FL, but work for a company in Burlington. Now I’ll return for work AND pleasure! My son is an IPA fan living in the Bay Area. Will be taking a few cans to San Fran for Thanksgiving. Looking fwd to visiting the brewery very soon!
